Cheaper by the Dozen
Director: Laura Williams-French
Tech Director: Mark French
Centered around the numerous members of the Gilbreth family, Cheaper by the Dozen is a heartwarming show about family dynamics and the struggles of growing up and being seen. The director wanted to highlight the brother and sister telling these stories by bringing them forward into a coffee shop to reminisce those key moments of their childhood. This helped anchor the stories in a time and space, thus letting the characters walk back and forth between the present and the past. This also gave a challenge to make the shift between modern and classical lighting.
In addition to the lighting shifts, we brought in the big picture window to the backyard with a rear projection screen. The back yard was created in unreal engine giving registration in time of day and seasons, showing the passing of time.
