The Curious Savage

The Curious Savage is one of our favorite shows. It’s a lovely story with so many great characters.

Laura came into the project with a plan for light to help tell the story of these people. There are characters who have a negative influence on Ethel P. Savage and ones who have a positive influence. A subtle shift of color tone helps the space feel either warm or cold. The window is backlit to help find registration in the time of day.

Because this show is so character driven, very little technical was needed to help the audience connect with the story. At the end a spotlight was used to isolate Ethel as she finally leaves the Cloisters and then irises down on the bear as she exits.
